Pullman Kuala Lumpur City Centre Hotel and Residence’s in-house restaurant, Red Chinese Cuisine, is having their first Chinese New Year celebration and here’s what to expect!
‘A Nostalgic Celebration’ dining promotion awaits families looking to enjoy the timeless cultural traditions with bold flair on level 2 of the Pullman KLCC. Uniquely crafted traditional dishes for that festive family time together will be available from the 4th of January to the 19th of February.
We at EatDrink had the pleasure of sampling the chef’s recommendations, found below.
The ‘Prosperity’ Yee Sang; here shown is the vegetarian option – fresh fruits and garden greens with strawberry puree dressing with added crispy whitebait.
Double-boiled sea whelk (snail) with matsutake mushroom, winter melon and conpoy (scallop).
Stir-fried mantis shrimp with fish roe and asparagus with salted egg yolk sauce (that was just divine)!
Scrambled egg white with tomatoes and bamboo fungus. Sounds simple, but all the qualities of comfort food that hit us right where it’s good.
‘Fujian-style’ seafood fried rice with whole abalone.
And, to bring the course to a beautiful, traditional close, a contemporary version of the Nian Gao, the ‘year cake’. Coloured green with pandan and filled with purple sweet potato (with the Nian Gao at the centre), this was a true traditional treasure you definitely have to try.
The celebratory menus are for 10 pax, priced at RM1388 (Spring & Happiness Set), RM 1588 (Prosperity Set), and RM 1888 (Wealth & Fortune Set). For RM 2188, a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label will be added to the Wealth & Fortune Set, and for RM 2888 a bottle of Hennessy X.O. Cognac.
