Follow the scent of standout sashimi and it might lead you to this new sushi bar, where worshippers of raw seafood can pay reverence to sumptuous servings of sea robin sushi (RM20 for two), squid with natto (RM10 for two), isaki (RM20 for two) and tuna belly (RM65 for an assorted trio), with other fish like kohada, kinmedai and kurose buri also beckoning from the menu.
Beyond the luscious cuts of fish, the oyster sushi (RM30) and the unatama eel-egg combo (RM22) are both should-orders, boasting a sweet succulence that’ll linger in the memory. If you’re feeling especially debauched, order a rice bowl – the Hokkaido don, blanketed with uni, ikura and hotate is a rich, creamy pleasure (RM100); wash down with a glass of Kuro Kirishima shochu (RM15.80). The folks behind Sushiya also run 1 Utama’s respected Ichiro Sushi Bar, so quality is assured.
